Default Door locks (key)

The driver's side door lock is getting a bit "sticky", what would the correct lubricant to use in this situation? I have nightmares of braking the key off in the lock.

Thanks

First get you a can of WD 40 with one of those plastic tubes. Stick the tube in the nozzle and spray it into the door lock mechanism....This will help clean any gook out of the pins inside of the locking mechanism. Stick you key in and work it back and forth with some pressure but not enough to break the key. If you need to, spray the WD 40 in again and then stick the key in and try to work it more. Keep doing this till the lock is fully free. After a few days the WD40 will dry then you can get a graphite tube and then squirt it up in the locking mechanism...This will really make it easy...

If you have any WD40 left just spray it on any tar or oil that you have on the sides of your car. This stuff will take it off and then you can wash and clean your car up...The WD 40 will not hurt the paint.

I agree with the WD40 and graphite. If the problem continues, your key may be worn and the lock tumbers are not in alignment. Your GM dealer can make you another door key if the lubricant does not fix your problem. I have this same problem with a Wal Mart key that I use a a spare. My regular key works great.....when I can find it!!!

Thanks everyone, the WD40 seems to have solved the problem. I will give it some time to dry before I use any graphite.
