Is it possible for liquid to get in the transmission if its spilled around the shifter? I had a freak accident the other day i had a cup of tea was sitting in the drink holder by the shifter and a cup you put cigarettes out in next to it.I had my sunglasses wrapped around the cig cup and a 12 pack of soda behind the seats. I came to a hard stop and the soda flew into the front hitting the sunglasses and they punctured the stupid cup and the tea ran into the shift boot and into the cup holder. It was at night so i didnt see where it all went.
In the transmission, No! Into electrical connections around the transmission, possibly but not probably. Those of us who do drive in the rain have a lot of spray hitting that area with no issues.

Agree even if a ZF there is a boot that would shed probably a Big Gulp, but as said I would sweat the Sugar/Sticky stuff and the Ants.
We need a more information like year and type of transmission. I can see the seats, ride control selection switch and neutral switch getting gummed up. Or even an OD switch in early manuals that had it on console.
By chance is it a ZR1 because I never had the Displeasure of driving a ZR1 with the Valay Key turned I always kept them on full power but from I hear the car becomes a dog

. 400?
Not 700 R4 Automatic with Overdrive.
the OD switch sitting on the console as far as know was a 4+3 thing for early 85s and below then the switch moved to the shifter

no codes. i removed the neutral safety switch and sprayed electrical contact cleaner in it while i was spraying dirty liquid came out of it i sprayed till it came out clear. The connector was right under were the drink cup was so it definetly got the brunt of it. Just put it back in and still idling at 450 to 500 in park.
