Default Advice for achieving 400whp with spray setup

Hey guys I’m relatively new to corvettes and to the forum, although I’ve done lots of research thanks to you guys and a couple repairs and maintenance. So basically I’m looking for some knowledge and help from some more experienced people.

I have a 93 LT1 I bought about a year ago and it has under 80k miles runs good and has a Corsa catback, SLP cold air intake, upgraded sway bar (don’t know which one off top of my head but can check if you guys are curious), and an aluminum flywheel. There are also other things changed out or replaced but nothing else besides maintenance parts really.

My vision for this car is to break into 400 whp, running a spray setup and still have the car being a good street drive, this will take time as I just had a child and am looking into getting a house but I like to plan ahead. I’m also going to attempt a custom body and aero kit since I’d like to get familiar with fiber glass and I’ve gotten a lot of inspiration from the build by bjork and the render from bradbuilds.

My questions are what setups work well for this hp and are cams a good way to get started on the climb. Also would the LT4 hotcam be capable of running alongside spray and basically what upgrades am I needed to look at and maybe price estimates?

Thanks in advance, it’s nice to finally be active in the corvette community

Edit: I forgot to mention the car is also tuned and currently makes 300 whp

The NO system is a budget thing. IMO a wet system would be better. I would get a cam intented for nitrous. Tuning is important. Nitrous gets expensive when tuning is off.

well I’m willing to save and do it right I definitely don’t wanna be one of those guys that blows their engine because of a poor setup or tune, do you know of any cams meant for spray?

Any cam is a nitrous cam. That being said, one designed for nitrous is going to sacrifice normal driving quality.... You have to decide what you want to live with... if you're building it to drive and will spray occasionally, use a decent cam and then hit it with a 100 shot or whatever it would take to get the power you want. Otherwise go with a specific cam ground for what your intended purpose is... start with that in my opinion... what do you really want out of the car?

Timely thread for me. I just purchased an LT4 hotcam for my 96. I also intend to spray mine. I was planning on going with a wet plate but my nitrous feen friend says with the tech today he would go dry, no idea… I intend to get more info. The thought of a dry nitrous scares me a bit.

So my main goals are to have a fairly comfortable street car that’s very capable and that breaks 400whp. The main thought of having a spray system is to have a sort of last resort or show off button essentially (also I’ve been wanting to try a spray setup for some time). My thoughts are from what I read maybe a LT4 hot cam and a 50 shot should get me past my goal and anything extra is just bonus.

I think the thought of dry I’m scares me a bit as well , whenever I’ve researched them most people agree that wet systems are just kind of the go too but I’m not entirely sure of the data behind it. I would think it’s a better mix going into your cylinders but again I have no experience with them.
Are you also installing headers and an exhaust to go with that cam? If so please share your results if you get it tuned and how the spray setup goes as well as what you use

I want a capable street car that still handles and feels relatively good for say a short time road trip, but also be able to go to the track a couple times a year. So yeah it would be a spray occasionally type of deal.

Id rather see you do the hotcam and a 100 shot, 50 will get old super quick.

What else would I need to do to get it nitrous ready? Would a new fuel pump be needed? Injectors? What about porting the heads I hear they’re very restrictive
