Ok. This passenger headlight motor is driving me nuts. I just installed a new gear (big white one, black was fine) because the motor would keep running after the headlight was open or close. If I attach my alligator clips to the pins (Down=Green- Grey+ / Up=Green+ White -) the motor moves both directions as it should. If I install it on the headlight frame, and put it on the car, as soon as I plug it in, it goes straight to the open position. Key off, headlight switch off. If I pull the headlight switch, the drives side works as it should, the passenger side stay stuck open and does not move. Ive disconnected it, multiple times, each time the motor woks fine from the alligator clips, but as soon as I plug it in the factory plug--it goes to open and stay there. Please help!
Have you checked the relays for the head lights? My 84 uses them and I'm not sure if 85 is any different but they're mounted on the driver's side front fender under the box... it could be just stuck perhaps? I'd start there.
Try this. Unplug the recent repaired wires from that headlight. Put the the other in the closed position with headlight switch. Use the manual **** to put the repaired one in the closed position all the the way. If it is already in the closed position rotate the manual **** to where it starts to open then turn it back somewhat snug to the closed position. I do not think you have the manual **** snug enough and that will make the headlight motor run. Hope this makes sense. You should have changed both gears while you were in there.

I also tried the **** and it was snug, multiple times I hand cranked it all the way back, made sure it was snug, plugged it in, and it flipped open and wouldn't close.
