Default Throttle position sensor

Just got done doing long tubes, roller rockers, and valve springs. When I data log the car for the tuner, the car drove well and accelerates very quickly, but I noticed my TPS positon never goes past 57% at WOT and the voltage is around 2.1-2.2. At idle the voltage is just at .56v which is about where I want it from what I have read. Any ideas on what the issue could be? Bad TPS sensor? Thanks.

Check your feed voltage to the sensor. It should be 5v. Also make sure the sensor grounds good too. If they are good, first thing I would suspect is a faulty TPS.

What year?

only buy ac delco replacement for this sensor.

my 1991 has long tubes and I go through a tps every 3-4 years. Lots of heat buildup and they also get weak spots that drop the signal when they wear out.

when you are seeing what voltage / throttle percentage, are you opening it by hand under the hood or using the pedal? Maybe something is up with the carpet or accel pedal

The simplest check is to verify you are getting WOT from the pedal... IE cable isn't stretched then move from there to testing the sweep and feeds like said above. Been there, done that lol. Start simple.

Been meaning to chase this. Have an '87, what is WOT at the throttle body? All the way to the stop or a bit short of that?

I can't say for sure, but mine is just a hair short. It will read 100% on the data stream but my understanding is that it can be a little off and still read at 100. I know that my cable is stretched a little bit however. There is some adjustment in my bracket placement to compensate. later cars are obviously different.

Problem solved.
Don’t buy TPS sensors from part stores. After replacing with an OEM used sensor it now reads 100%. Only problem now is I’m pretty sure my cable is stretched, because you have to push HARD to see 100% on the computer
