Default No Electrical Power

Greetings All,

I'm helping someone out with their 1993 Corvette. A few years ago the hooked the battery leads up backwards ( I dunno how but they did ). Needless to say nothing in the car works. No lights, radio, ignition, etc. I've put a new battery in and checked every fuse in both fuse boxes by the battery and the one on the passenger side dash. I'm getting 12 volts to the alt and both sides of the fuse boxes by the battery, the two orangish/red fusible links behind the battery seem to be fine. I know on previous models they had a few fusible links but I can only find two.

Is there something else I should be looking for?

Thanks in advance!

'93 was the first year for the Under Hood MAXI fuses that replace the other Fusible Links that you might have expected. You have B+ voltage to both U/H Boxes and also to the IP Fuse Box? You only mention checking fuses. If you had B+ to U/H #2 and 60A Exterior lighting fuse was good you should have lights I'd think.

I can offer you this and since it's your 1st post I can't PM or email you.

You undoubtedly will need the '93 FSM (Factory Service Manual) with all wiring diagrams.

Correct, I have 12v at both fuse blocks U/H and the ALT, all fuses checked out. I did not check for voltage at the IP fuse box yet, I'm currently waiting for a new battery wires to replace out of caution. Even with both blocks having 12v, nothing in the car will function, lights, horn etc etc.

Sent you an email btw.

Here's the 'Power Distribution' from a '93 FSM - You originally had only mention checking fuses? You've edited later to mention 12V everywhere it seems. I emailed you regarding the FSM!

I'll check again once the battery cables come in. On both terminals for the U/H fuse boxes I had 12.56v and 12.56v at the alternator as well.

Edit: Thanks for your insight! Replacing the positive power cable fixed the issue. The only issue now is the fuel pump isn't getting power, which ill attack the relays next.
