Default 94 OBD2 Plug on OBD1 System

I've been searching around and found a few threads regarding the OBD2 plug in the OBD1 Vettes. I have an Innova 5610 scan tool that should read OBD1. I cannot get it to link though. I've read a few things on this forum such as waiting 15 seconds after turning the ignition on before linking and something about the cigarette lighter fuse, etc. I'd like to use the scan tool for hopefully more options, but I'm aware of the paper clip mode too. Anyone here have any luck and can provide advice from knowledge or experiences?

Well, I'll answer part of my own question. I called Innova's tech support and they said that the 5610 does not support the OBD1.5 in the 94-95 GM's, saying they do not have the software written to support it. Bummer. I did happen to see something on these forums about either someone who wrote a program for the PC and/or another scan tool that works, but I can't find it now. If you have any information it'd be most appreciated.

If you're interested in 'just' codes and general very useful diagnostics a '94 does very good using the DIC and the IP display. Do you have an FSM?

This should get you familiar with something that has NO 'out of pocket' expense!!

WVZR-1, thank you for that. I have the Innova 5610 that works well with my other vehicles. Just unfortunate that it won't with the latest C4. I do have the FSM but haven't had time to dig in just yet. I do appreciate that link and I'm looking forward to trying it out later or this weekend. Any issues I should look for since my C4 apparently has an engine swap from the LT1 to LT4? ... I'm still trying to get more information from one of the past owners.

Yours 'for sure' is a conversion using '96 LT4 and also the '96 PCM? Your car is an M6 or a 4L60e?

I'm still learning and I'm almost certain it's an LT4, but please prove me right or wrong by any means, LOL! If M6 means 6-speed manual, yes I do. Pics of engine bay here:

The label on the PCM says what? A snapshot of only that?

That is a '94 - '95 PCM using the label! Someone with maybe a similar engine swap can better answer your questions.

The car was originally an M6?

I can't suggest other diagnostics but someone will stop by mentioning 'software' - laptop and cables!

****Maybe yours is only an LT4 intake 'only' OR maybe cylinder heads and intake OR maybe as you mentioned 'engine swap'. I believe it could be manifold only or heads and other hardware.

Correct me if I’m wrong but an LT1 could be ordered with the 6spd manual transmission right? I’m damn sure I’ve seen one and specifically talked to the owner who had one at the car show. It was special ordered

Correct me if I'm wrong but LT4's don't use an EGR valve because of the cams duration and valve overlap.

That is correct, and therefore this is almost certainly not an LT4 swap (at least not a complete one). C-Cuatro, what made you think your car has an LT4 swapped in? If it's just the red intake, then be aware that any LT1 intake can be painted red, and I think a fair number of people did that.

Just a mix-mosh of suggestions, observations and such. I'm still learning, LOL! And thank you guys for pointing things out. I'm still trying to get some answers from one of the previous owners, one who was on these forums for a short time: Dr Boost who sold off the DRM stuff and pulled the original engine. I was told by his brother that he was preparing for a twin-turbo set-up and lost interest; ran NOS instead. I am told too that the engine that is in the car now was a fresh rebuild, but he hasn't been able to confirm my questions with his brother just yet. Hopefully I'll hear back.
