need help with diagnosing, anybody know someone in So Md area that I can get help with this? Engine seems to bog down and miss above 3500 at WOT. idles is good and no problem driving through gear changes normally. Problem only occurs when I want to get on it. I have an L98 engine with auto trans. basic mods K&N filter, cut lid, TB bypass, airfoil, 160 t-stat.
Air filter is clean, and right now I do not own a fuel gauge but there is an adjustable fuel pressure regulator installed. As I stated the problem is only when I'm at WOT on the road. If anyone can recommend someone in the area ( southern Maryland) with the diagnostic tools to locate the problem or point me to a few checks I can make to help narrow it down it would be greatly appreciated.
You will need to check the A/F ratio at WOT to see if its a fuel problem. Also check the plugs and wire, pull a few plugs to see whats up, check your wires to see if theyre burnt, also look at them at night in the dark to see if any glow. That would indicate somethings up with that wire.
If not any of those, replace the dist. cap and rotor.
My gut would say its the fuel filter or pump though.
I'm planning on changing plugs, wires and fuel filter as they appear to be due. recently purchased car will let you know if things improve. Vader, How do you check the A/F ratio at WOT?
I have a very similar problem with my 90. It drove me crazy for months. Did all the normal fixws plugs, module, wires, cleaned injectors etc...no help. It turned out to be a slightly clogged cat. converter. Got a performance cat. converter and the rocketship is back with a vengence.

didn't think of the cat. I'll look into that if it isn't resolved by the items i'm planning on replacing.
thanks for the inputs.
Just take your car to a reputable exhaust shop and have them do a backpressure test. That will tell you the condition of the cats. No sense throwing money at it :seeya
