Default Cruise Control Vacuum Lines

I am trying to fix my cruise control and I noticed that the two vacuum lines comming from the servo were VERY worn. I replaced one of them just fine, but the other appears to turn into a grommet and connect to the back of the brake booster. The vacuum line and grommet (larger rubber end) seem to be one piece. I think it can pull it hard enough to get it out, but I wanted to make sure it was supposed to be one piece and if so I assume I have to buy a special vucuum tube to replace it. Please let me know how this second vacuum line is removed.

Thanks,

-Dave

The cruise control and brake booster as you saw connect together. Ther is another part of it that goes to the back of the intake plenum. The OTHER news is that this line also works with your HVAC air control doors. Nice huh? :) I would be very careful as the plastics are brittle with age. The stuff is all stuffed down in behind the distributor.

:iagree:

This is a photo of the line behind the distributor. The line is running along the inside of the index finger. The finger is on the tape for the convoluted tube. The (black) line curves under the oil pressure sender and looks (grey) going under the tape. This wire harness goes into the firewall and I'm not 100% sure but I think that line goes to the heat and a/c controls.

Thanks for the picture, but the line I'm having trouble with is the one connected to the back of the brake booster. The line that goes behind the distributer is allready replaced. What worried me about the line going to the brake booster is that I would like to think that the brake booster would have a nipple that a "regular" vacuum line would connect to. I can't see very well between the brake booster and firewall, but it looks like the brake booster doesn't have a nipple and that the vacuum hose and connection to the brake booster are one piece. I havn't seen a peice like this in any Corvette catalogs.

My main concern is I don't want to damage my brake booster and I also havn't found a manual (Haynes and GM Shop) that gives any instructions on how to remove the vacuum lines. Although I am going to look at the brake section when I get home today.

So, to anyone thats done this before, I just need to know if the vuccume line connecting to the brake booster is just a vacuum line or a special part.

Thanks again,

-Dave

Hmm...

Now that I am thinking more about this. On my '87 the brake booster has one large line going to it from the back of the plenum. There is a nipple on the back of the plenum (which can be unscrewed). On the booster there is a plastic elbow/nipple that is pressed in the booster. The vacuum line itself is just a normal 7/16" soft vacuum line I believe.

One of the vac lines from the cruise control goes to a switch on your brake pedal.....when you hit the brakes it electrically and by vac. disconnects the cruise. Then there is an electrical disconnect switch on the clutch. Try looking closer at where that line goes....
