Hi guys at the beginning of this year I acquired a 1996 LT1 which we all know makes 300hp stock since purchasing the car I have installed
K&N open air box with k&n filter
Twin 58mm BBK throttle body
Throttle body coolant bypass (I don't drive it in the cold)
Pacesetter shorty headers
Muffler and resonator delete with straight pipes in their place (still have cats)
Since doing these modifications I can notice a significant difference nothing crazy but definitely noticeable I was wondering how HP my car would be making now I'm hoping around 330 but that may be optimistic what would you guys guess? Also is there any other suggestions you guys have to gain more shy of doing a cam or major engine work?
Nothing there has opened up restrictions that much, I'd say probably 310-320ish if you still have the cats in place.
Dyno is the only way to know for sure, 1/4mi ET would at least indicate something.
LT1 engines are designed pretty well, the exhaust is not very restricted, nor is the intake side. You have to get into the heads/cam to really advance the HP up.
If you go to the track you can use your cars weight, E/T , and speed to come up with a number. If you want to be closer don't forget to add your weight also. Generally your h.p. at the flywheel can be also figured by multiplying by 15 to 18 percent for driveline losses. It would be an idea but not exact . You can find different formulas on line like using the weight , E/T, and MPH .
