I'm ready... give me the scoop. I want the best of everything, it'll be a professional install... I'll only run a 100 shot until I build a stout motor.
Re: LT4 and the bottle... let's hear it... (Patrick96LT4)
I would recommend Nitrous Express, I have heard alot of good things about their product, and found out first hand that they have top notch customer service. I can't wait to get my install finished.
Re: LT4 and the bottle... let's hear it... (BlackonBlack)
My opinion only!!! I have basicly the same mods as yourself. I have a 125 shot wet system. The wet hits harder and is more a/f ratio friendly. That is extremely important. Dyno run last month 308rwhp 314rwt motor and 418 rwhp and 540 rwt on bottle. Good luck!
Re: LT4 and the bottle... let's hear it... (owensLT4)
No offense to anyone running dry kits but all the horror stories about nitrous are results of too much nitrous using dry kits.
Why would you leave up to the stock computer, fuel pump, and injectors to provide that extra fuel for your nitrous? It just doesn't make any sense to me, unless you are only running a 50-70hp jetting.
You will never find any serious racers or engine builders using such kits. If the dry kits are used, they are used for 2 stage systems where a small shot of dry is used to get out of the hole, than a big shot of wet as a 2nd stage to finish the race.
The later C-5 OBDII cars are a little better with dry shots because the computer is able to compensate more for the incoming air and adjust fuel pressure accordingly.
The early OBDIIs like the one in your GS does not controll the fuel pressure regulator, so if you fuel pressure drops the computer cannot compensate for the drop in fuel pressure. But even if it did, I still wouldn't leave it up to the computer to add the fuel "it thinks" I need when I am using nitrous. I wouldn't recommend Dry!
I'm not trying to hi-jack your post ...But I'd really have to suggest a heads and cam package like RichS had done to His GS. The power is always there, might be a little more than the nos(it did an 11.X@118mph) And you might like it a little better.
I've never messed with Nitrous.A little intimidating. I am sure Rich would lend you a hand duplicating His combo(A rather impressive one) if you we're interested.

Either way, good luck, and keep us posted.
hijacker! JD, the problem is I haven't been able to nail down a final engine "plan". I was going to do an LPE 383 ... but 15k to get to 450 crank HP seems a little expensive. Then I thought about a crate motor... then I go back to trying to figure out what kind of car I am building.... a drag car? A road race car? or just a more powerful car?
But, I'd like to have a little more HP fun until I make up my mind, I don't like throwing money away. I figure a little nitrous until I get my ducks in a row. And, it won't be a throw away for the next step with the engine.
I would like to hear about RickS's setup, though. I should shoot him an e-mail.
Re: LT4 and the bottle... let's hear it... (Patrick96LT4)
Why not bore your stock engine and stroke it to 383CID, get some high flow heads and Their are some engine builders that can make 450-500hp at 9.5 to 1 compression with a 383. BUt if your running higher that figure should be higher as well. :yesnod: Then maybe a 200 shot on that and you'll be happy with 6-700hp? ;)

LPE's 383 is 450 at the crank.... how can others make 450-500 with a lower compression?
Re: LT4 and the bottle... let's hear it... (Patrick96LT4)
They have higher flowing heads, they dont port ands grind stock ones. Also Its not a LT4 It uses a intake suited for a carb. But I think if you ghet a high flow replacement intake or get it ported with some high flow heads, low restriction headers, and just make everything so its not restricting any power possibilities of the engine. I know of a web site that sells 383's with 9.5 to 1 compression making 450hp and 480ftlbs of torque. its http://www.Johnbarrett.com check it out. :yesnod: Just go to 383 Blitz
Re: LT4 and the bottle... let's hear it... (Patrick96LT4)
Hey Patrick in the 2003 February Issue of Super CHevy MAg. on page 123 in the lower right side corner they have a company called American Speed They advertise a 383CID SBC engine with 9.5 to 1 compression makes 500hp and 520ftlbs of torque. I can give you their number if you want I'll e-mail it to you if you want, they got like a $2 Brochure. I think we cannot post number on this website of other companies, I dunno :flag

'Sup? RichS frequently drag races and runs the road course also with His car. I'm sure He'll share the details.
LPE's stuff is on the pricy side. I should know :D
I've just never been a nitrous fan. When the bottle's off, it's a different animal.
Good luck in your choice either way though. I like your avatar quote! Mine'll never be in a museum either(It's sure been in a lot of shops tho! Gotta put a stop to that!)

I though you would be looking at some of the local Corvette "performance shops" to do your engine work & not LPE???

Hummm I'm getting the nitrous itch myself :)
Summer is right around the corner

LPE was my original plan. I figured if I did a "Lingenfelter Grand Sport" that I wouldn't lose as much on resale.
I've since scrapped that idea. I'd like Vettewrench to do the work, assuming I can make up my mind sooner or later. He's also going to install the NOS.
Re: LT4 and the bottle... let's hear it... (Patrick96LT4)
Definitely go with the bottle. Best mod I have done and there is no reason to do anymore as my car is strictly a street car. Have lost zero races on the street since the install of the spray. Just beat down a 94 BPU Supra the other day. That car had 408hp to the wheels dynoed earlier in the morning that same day. Watch the video and see the outcome. (I posted it in the kill section) I am spraying a little more that when I ran the times in my sig so I would guess bottom 12's at 118-119 now. Pump gas. Even off the bottle your car should be quick enough to take out 95% of the cars you run into on the street. Only use the spray when you need it. I bought myself a 55lb refill bottle for my garage and only pay $1.80 per lb of nitrous now and always have a full bottle in the car. Fill it up each time I use it.
