92 and 93 ECMs often develop cold solder joints, mileage driven is not a factor. SIA Electronics in southern Illinois can fix that if it is your issue.

Thnx, I would like to see what the back joints look like if this were the case. Soldering is easy to do.

I've never really understood ASR. It's something I've been researching here and there as of late. Didn't really expect to see ASR discussed on here, to be honest. Have an ASR light lit up on a '95 Mercedes E320 and the thing has to be floored in order to get up to speed and constantly have to keep the pedal to the floor. Apparently that system involves brakes, TB and some other stuff. It's confusing to me.

That sounds more like ASR is active and doing its job.
Ours is the light comes on, with service ASR and tach drops.. Its a system fault, poor connectivity, or something..
I think its more akin to three laptops with cat 6 straight throughs trying to talk to each other while downloading data and processing it. Sometimes you just get a glitch.. These computers are barely above a calculator...

I need to learn more about what ASR is and does in general. It's something I've never had to think about, so totally new to me.

But, yeah. You're right about these computers back then. Not much to em, but they do process a lot of information, that being said. At the moment I'm leaning toward a harness probem, but I dunno. Have to look into ASR more to learn more about it. That's why the thread caught my interest. The concept itself likely isn't different on a Mercedes.

I had some ASR / ABS light issues in the past with my '96.
The lights would come on after I drove the car and when hot. When I stopped the car then started it back up both ASR and ABS lights would illuminate.
The code I pulled was a C0065 cable adjuster malfunction. There was nothing wrong with the adjuster.
I also checked the wiring harness that goes under the driver's side floor and into the rear bin where the ABS pump is located. This harness does get weathered and some of the wiring can get frayed. The insulation gets exposed and shorts intermittently. Mine was fine.
I had chased this problem for years. My problem turned out to be the electronic circuit portion of the Bosch ABS pump behind the driver's seat storage bin.
I bought a used one off eBay and swapped just the circuitry not the whole pump and solenoids.
As far as a bad connection on the '96 pump, I couldn't find any. The whole circuit has a liquid /sticky conformal coating on all of the components and PCB. But this is a '96 GM changed the ABS pumps year to year.

I may be jinxing myself, but, I swapped the brain for the DELTEQ and my service ASR light has not come on in two days of driving.
I am thinking, its a fluke and hasnt shown itself again, or the DELTEQ brain is messing with the tach signal, as my tach always falls then the service asr light comes on..
