Default Need help identifying these parts

Just got this 85 C4 with LT1 motor. Found this connector and these broken wires on the drivers side, under engine near starter but above the oil pan. Connect plugs in above the oil pan and the wire comes off the wiring bundle that includes wires to the starter solenoid. All the wires on the starter solenoid are in place. This view is from under the car on a lift. The left of the photos is the passenger side. Can anyone identify this connector and wire? Are they supposed to be attached to each other. It appears that the previous owner (or someone) had repaired these to some extent as there was electrical tape and non-factory looking connections.

Charles

This is the connector

This is the wire with some kind of a bracket on it

The connector in this photos is plugged in with the broken wire coming off it in the upper middle-right of the photo. The other wire is hard to see but is to the left of the started next to the down pipe near the bottom margin of the photo. It has a blue plastic element

Default Thanks Mitch

Should those two wires then be connected: the one to the knock sensor and the wire coming in off the harness?
