Default exhaust comparison article

i know a little while ago someone posted an article that was in a mustang magazine and it compared all the different exhaust brands on the same motor and gave the hp and torque gain(or loss)It also had the decibel levels at differnt rpms.
can anybody dig that up for me please?

I know Corvette fever did an article with an LT-4 and showed that all the cat -backs were very close to the same gain, like 5-15 rwhp.

damn now thats an srticle i would LOVE to see! you got to think, it was probably a test on a stock LT4 so if one catback had any sort of a signifigant performance over the rest then think how much more of a gain it would be modded

Yes it was as tock LT-4 . The Power Effects, when it was in open mode,; I believe had the biggest gain.

I remember Hot Rod did one over a year ago. It was a SB 350, but I don't think it was an LT-1. The best header was 1 5/8". I don't remember the brand. You may be able to find it in the "Hot Rod Archives" on their website.

it basically came out saying buy the exhuast you like the sound of the most. the hp difference was very close, under 5hp difference between the major brands.

The LT4 test was done in 1998 in Vette , I believe . They used a stock GS LT4 and it made 299 rwhp bone stock. The most power came from Power Effects at 312 when wide open , then the B&B at 311 , the rest ranged from 303 to 307 I think (Magna Flow , FlowMaster, Borla, etc.) Corsa was not tested (not out at the time I think). The Power Effects when fully closed made almost no gain over stock. All made more power everywhere , not losing low end for top end. Very interesting test.

Hope that helps..... :seeya

Yep, that was me. Really interesting to find out how little difference between the various brands. It all really comes down to sound preference, in my opinion.
