Passenger Power Window Problems
My driver side switch operates my passenger power window perfectly fine without any problems. My passenger window switch will also operate its power window but after a few minutes of driving it no longer is able to roll the window back up. It still can roll the window down, however. What might be the problem here?
You might have to remove the door panels but check for Low Voltage at the window motor and also look for any of the factory original Grease on the tracks. A bad electrical connection might even cause the issue. I would measure the voltage at your Fuse Panel to verify the voltage is the same as the battery voltage. IF there is a difference that is a issue of it's own.
I found original factory Grease which had turned into Putty on my 1988 C4 window tracks. I used a Hot Air gun to warm it up and soften it and this made removing it MUCH easier. After you get all the old grease off the parts you might use a little white Lithium or something that doesn't get hard in cold weather. I had to do both of my Corvettes as they both had the old Putty still on the window tracks. While you are there be sure to clean the door lock hardware of any of the factory putty as Power Locks won't work properly if they are gummed up. This is very important if you have Power Locks in your old Corvette.
I doubt it is the "colder" weather causing your window issues in Los Angeles but it makes a big difference How slow the windows go when cold due to the grease/Putty that the folks at GM used.
I wish you and your family a Very Merry Christmas!
Chris
Switches are not cheap try to prove or disprove all involved. The track cleaning only cost time.
