Should be a TRW forged slug with a trough type relief. There may have been another but I believe 84 and 85 were the same.
My 84 has the trw with trough as did the 85 and maybe a few 86s. I read somewhere that GM was trying to get rid of the L82 pistons. Too bad we did not get the rest of the L82 good stuff!

The late L82 heads are the same iirc. Only real differences would be the fact the block is a 2 vs 4 bolt (same casting number I believe), cam shaft and screw in vs press in rocker studs. Swap the intake and cam on an L83 and it should be about the same (minus the 4 bolt). They also may have had forged (or at least steel) cranks. Given the improvements in assembly practices by 84 either or would be able to take similar abuse.
