Actually it's not that bad. I did however have to tear it back down because I was unable to get the #7 injector connector on. And I suspect I would have the same problems with #2.
I wressled with #7 for about 2 hours and said to myself-there is no-way I am going to go through this with the #2 injector also. I swear after searching "superRam" on the forum that othere were connecting their injectors after the runners and plenum were on.
Anyway, I seperated the injector wires from the rest of the harness and will run them underneath the plenum.
It'll be a few days before the new gaskets and 9th injector plug gets here so I'm now on a mission to detail the engine while it's apart.
I don't know what to tell ya, I could get mine on. The fact that you couldn't and that you had to grind your valve covers a lot more is really telling me that that edlebrock base houses the runners physically lower than the accel one does.
Chuck, I could have swore that I told you to have your injectors pluged in and have your detent cable routed where it would function.. One more word of advise would be tighten the whole unit down after you have all the bolts started That includes the intake to runners to. You have your runner to plenum bolts slotted?
Yes, they are slotted. I really didn't have any problems assembling the unit, I just should have run the injector wires behind the runners/under the plenum
Brian, I don't know what it is. Maybe it is the valve covers because "mitch" who I bought the base, runners and plenum from had no problem with his stock valve covers when it was on his L98.
Get the list that Brian listed and you should be fine Make sure you run the kick down cable under the plenum first and have your injectors pluged in before you put on the plenum. Slot your bolts and get that wrench. Sears has a set for like $25
I think alot of it has to do with slight casting differences in the SR itself. I have owned 3-4 SR intakes over the years and installed them more times that I care to discuss. And on some units the injectors would go on with no problems what so ever no matter how many times I did the install. And there were other units that I did and the injectors would take me 45mins to get one clip on. It was due to clearances not being exactly the same, plain and simple. The one that I have now was a slight pain to get one of the injector clips on (#2 to be exact), but number 7 went right on like the others.

Like I said, I didn't have any problems assembling the unit itself. Did it once on the bench, once of the car.
This little contraption came in handy bolting my runners to the base. I don't remember others using something like this but it worked like a charm.
I did not have to remove any rocker arms
I did not have to rotate my motor
I just put my super ram on today. I have the accel base and had no problems with the injector connectors with the runners in place.
Now I would like to know if you SR guys are running the injector wires under the plenum or on the outside, between the runners and the valve covers?
I had my injector wires going under my plenum for 2 years. I put all new wire covers on, and the passenger side wire pack does not fit under the plenum any more, so I guess I will leave them on the outside... :(
It was so much cleaner and easier to work on with them tucked under.
I have always run the injector wires on the outside like stock. I never gave any thought to moving them from the harness to the inside of the runners. Hmmmm. I may give that a test try when I bolt mine back up. I've only had it apart 20-30 times whats one more at this point. :D
