When trying to start car clicks then everything powers off

I have a 1994 vette base model and I’ve just gotten the cylinder changed but when I try to start the car there’s no crank but it will click then everything completely powers off not sure what the problem is the whole steering assembly is is off so I could get to the cylinder is that a possibility why it won’t start I just don’t want to put everything back together to test it the Have to take everything back out if it doesn’t work any ideas? Vats?

Check the battery connections and grounds, my S10 Blazer will do the same thing when the battery terminals need cleaned

thanks that’s ended up being the issue been so tied up in the complicated stuff that the simplest thing went over my head
