My 93 has been idling kinda weird lately. I suspect it to be a dirty IAC valve (I hope!) although I got a code 43 (knock sensor) on the OBD.
Anyway, what do you use and what size size to remove the IAC? It looks like 1-1/4" to me, I tried with a deep well socket but it won't fit. Is a crow's foot the answer here?
Also, is throttle body cleaner safe to use on it?
If this don't fix it, I'll be asking for help and advice on KS's.
TNX!
I don't know the size of the IAC since I just used a pair of channel locks to remove it after I removed the throttle body. I removed the IAC valve and used carb cleaner to clean up the butterfly valves and the area where the IAC screws into. Don't spray carb cleaner directly into the IAC as this could ruin it. Just brush off the junk to get the tip clean, remeasure the distance from the tip of IAC to the base of the threads, and screw it back in.
