Default Crate Stroker for C4 will the hood close

If I put a 383 Stroker 450 hp with a Holley EFI will my hood close or do I have to cut a hole in it. I have seen some Youtube videos about what looks like a modified TPI but no one said what they did. I dont think the OEM TPI is open enough for 450 hp -- any ideas or experiance?

That depends. Which intake are you planning on using?

No TPI setup will be good at making 450hp, no matter how "open" the plenum and runners are. The main restriction has to do with the resonant characteristics of the very long runners, and the cross-sectional area of the runners and base barely make any difference to that.

With the Holley EFI system, I expect you're going to use some sort of carb intake converted for port fuel injectors. You're going to have to measure carefully, because I think you'll be using a universal throttle body that sits on top like a carb. You might be able to find an elbow and use their OE-style throttle body with it, but that still creates clearance issues with the hood. I know little about the Holley system, but it looks to me like you can use their OE-style TB and maybe mount that on a Miniram intake and use the rest of the Holley system like that. If so, that would be a no-brainer.

A TPI, Miniram, or modified Holley Stealth ram will fit under the hood. Which specific Holley EFI system are you planning on using?

If you're going to make 450 hp you might want to consider a better transmission. A 700r4 will never take that.

If you're trying to fit under the stock hood with no cutting, I'd steer away from a Sniper (or carburetor) and use one of the intakes I mentioned with a Terminator X (or Terminator X Max if you want to get transmission control for something like a 4l80e). The price is pretty close between the two.

Lm7 rather. I have a buddy with a pro built frame off that pumps 500 hp and he has a 700r4. I think at my age. I probably will not dr7ve it like I stole it.

There are 700r4's that are built to handle 450 hp. But at what cost. $3k?. A 4l80e can be swapped in the car for less than $1K and handle way more power. You also get a much better gear ratio. The 700r4 is a dumpster fire waiting to happen. That and with a 4L80e you get digital control over shifts and it's much more common in salvage yards at this point in time.

A 700r4 can be used. But there are so many better options out there that cost way less. For 450 hp you will NEED a converter anyway. So you might as well get one for a better trans.

Also the LM7 is an LS motor. So are you LS swapping the car? If that's the case I missed that part.

To answer the original question if this is an LM7 5.3L crate motor then any of the F.A.S.T. LSXR intakes will fit under the hood. Also the LS1 and LS6 intakes will fit. Oh and the MSD Atomic will also fit. But at that power level I would recommend the LS6 intake. It will allow the motor to get enough air and not cost a lot.
