[SR]MrNuke got me thinking today. . . Vacuum Leak?
I spoke with Gabe for a short while today. He was asking how my car was doing. :D That's always a good question :jester
I mentioned my latest idle glitch. If you cruise around, it'll behave just fine for a while, then it'll out of nowhere get low. If you go to back up after it being low, it'll surge and it has stalled a few times. It never did that prior to the DFI or the last removal of the SR-Runners(to plumb in the stand alone injector harness).
My question is this: Gabe had a similar problem, and had a small vacuum leak near the EGR(Nuke, chime in if I'm wrong on the location) The car was dead on before the new system went in. Might I have a small leak somewhere? I don't think they used new gaskets when they took the runners off(Considering at the time they we're only a few hundred miles old from when we repaired the lifter). Any ideas here? I joked about keeping the manifold on for the rest of the year. Guess the joke was on me :jester
We've tried to tinker with the program a few times to improve it,and so far it's not been too successful, leading me to believe it is a good chance there's a vacuum leak. Maybe what is causing my cold start surge which it never did before(that bad).
Once again, if I don't flip out because of this car, I never will!
Any help, feedback or info will be truly appreciated.
JD, I think that's a real possibility. I torqued mine down on the bench while I was playing around test fitting things. When I took it back apart a month later, the gasket was totally compressed and didn't appear serviceable any more.
That's without running it and not having any heat applied to the surfaces. Maybe try some ether and see if the idle increases....... that's a sure fire way to find out!

Thanks caboboy
I'll try that. I pondered the thought, but the process made me take a trip to NY first. A little easier. Now it looks like IF that's what it is, the manifold will come off to fix it. O well :D
Like the new sig? See, it does go in the snow. I can't just let it sit. It's too difficult. I know Scorp and John Panuzzo will like it :)
My leak was here :
The aluminum pipe on the driver's side that connects between the intake manifold and the pcv valve and the vacuum canister.
The 'nipple' that extends skyward must have been bent when I installed the intake one time, and it created a VERY f'ing small crack at teh base of it.
Couldn't even find it spraying carb cleaner in the area. I found it by pure accident.. Replaced it, and since then my car's idle went back to pretty rock solid.
Hey JD,
Vacuum leak is possible...sometimes really difficult to find with the TPI systems or SR.When your car is warmed up and idling, pull the PCV off the valve cover and let me know if the idle stays the same or gets worse,or heck, gets even better.
Just a small test I do to help narrow down unless theres a scanner there and you can read everything.
Good Luck and Keep us posted!!
:)
Off Topic. JD, what changes in the stock Corvette displays have you noticed with the new computer system? Does the dummy display work? Fuel milage stuff? All the temp and fluid guages, etc.?
Is the stock computer inline with the Accel?

The stocm ecm is still there. The sole purpose of it is, tcc lock, gauges, fan on and off, etc. Nothing performance related(fuel or timing etc). The DFI is totally stand alone. I had the fuel pressure checked, that was ok(the holley maxes out at 48 with the hose off, that is where it was) IAC was working fine and we tried the carb clean method to no avail. I'll keep you updated on the situation and thank you for your replies.
