Has anyone had experience with 11" wheels on the front of an 89 vette. I am wanting to go to 11 in the front but am not sure if there is any fitment or other problems i will have.
They work great on my race car, no rubbing at all. Your '89 has a different offset than my '85, I don't know if that will have any affect on clearance. One thing to think about would be the reduction in ride quality and the increased tendency to "wander" across the road.
Junkyard dog, who is on the forum here, as an 89 that he did a lot of autocrossing with. He ran 11" all the way around. His 11" wheels had the GS offset too. I know he had a small spacer up front to keep the front wheels from rubbing.
Junkyard dog is out of town right now for the holidays, but I'll tell him to check out this post and he can let you know how thick the spacers were and any other info.
Yes, I did run 11" with the GS offset on the front of my 89 autocrosser. I did have to use an 1/8" spacer because of an ever so slight rubbing on the sway bar. I believe the rub was caused by the extreme alignment settings I was running, she would stick in the corners.
I must have been smoking crack at the time. I was thinking 11" rims when I first read that.
 Yea, if I go back and read it as you were, that was kinda funny. Might be tuff running 11" wheels if you have 13" brake rotors. But thanks for the good laugh man!
Gotta be a huge strain on the power steering pump while not moving..... VetRacer.... you car looks like a beast with those 11" meats on the front.... must handle great
Vetracer said it all! I run the 11" GS offset (36mm ZR1 offset will not work on '89-96) with 315/35 Kumhos front and rear on my '96 and my '89. I only need the 1/8" spacer on the '89 though - probably difference in ride height. You won't want this on the street IMHO.
When yo use 11inch wide tirs up front does it really help out in performance handleing where it counts? OR is it just for show? ALso do they have any 14inch wide tires or maybe 15inch wide tires to be used in the rear for my future Race Car-OF course an ALuminum ZL1 BB Corvette. :yesnod:
