I've read that Eprom periodically need to be reflashed, updated. I have an 88 and don't know that this has ever been done! is there anyone on the forum that does this? I had a new chip created for my 85 but that was 18 years ago and I don't recall who did it. I've not done anything to enhance my 88.

It's generally thought that if your car 'runs and drives fine/with NO issues' that you're good to go. A GM dealer or ACD jobber could run your VIN through their service inquiry and confirm what would be the most current PROM calibration, then a scanner that is capable could scan for an ID that will change to a current PROM code for the VIN.
If you posted just coupe or 'vert, trans and axle ratio an appropriate PROM to expect wouldn't be difficult.
This link I'd think might be appropriate for many/most.
PCM Reflashing didn't start until 94 in corvette. The 84-93 use a replaceable prom aka mem cal. It will have a 4 letter and 4 number code on it. Original ecm will have code on label. Scanner will also display a digital prom ID. Using code Dealer should be able to tell you if prom was updated.
There is equipment that allows for custom tuning. Some will use aftermarket eproms.
