Default Cold start injector question

I have a 1985 Corvette and I’m in the process of replacing the fuel injectors and other stuff. I bought a cold start block off plate and was wondering if that will cause an engine code or not? Thanks for any advice.

It won't cause any codes but will likely result in the engine cranking longer before it starts in colder temperatures. The cold start injector isn't connected to the ECM.
Why are you removing it?

No it won't come back to the ECM, so no code will set.

You may have some issues cranking up some and then initially running on colder mornings. The ECM would be tuned in 85 to expect that CSI to be working in its built-in fuel tables.

You're about to create a problem where one doesn't now exist.

The Cold Start Injector assists with "cold start" up to 95 deg F of coolant temp. The CSI is only active while the key is in START, there is no power to the CSI system at any time other than in START. You will notice longer crank times, and it may not start at all depending on how "cold" it is. I had an 88 that wouldn't start the first start of the day at 70F. The fuse for the CSI was blown, and when replaced it fired right up..

Seems to be the right thing to leave it. I don’t drive it in cold weather but still want it to start normally.

Yep I actually had mine off for a bit because I was having issues and suspected a leaky injector - starting it was a real pain in the *** compared to having the CSI on. I recommend keeping it unless you're going to alter the tune to bypass it.

So do this:
pick a cold morning
unplug it.
start your car. See how long it takes.
Start it the next day plugged in assuming it’s around the same temp.
then pick 40 degree days, 50 degree days, etc.
it’s your call
