I bought a great low milage '92 at a Mecum action and I am very happy with it. It is my 4th C4 and also had C5's. The exception to my happiness is a old aftermarket remote start and alarm system (Valet Model 552T) which starts the car randomly from time to time. The transmitter is dead and hanging up so its not an accidental push of a button. I want to remove this system and looking for anyone who may have some advice. Are these systems generally output only units where if I disconnect it does it not break the circuits of the factory harness? I am mechanically inclined but wiring and electronics are not something I am not an expert at for sure....let me know if you have had any experience with this and can give any pointers or advice on the situation. Thanks.

Depends on the install and if wires were cut and spliced (amateur hack job) or professional install where it would have its own wiring not cut into the factory harness
Looks like it has about 30 wiring connections. But some of those are for options. There also appears to be a 12v power fuse. If you can find that fuse, I'd pull it and see if the car still works without it. I would hope they would not design a system that disables your car if it fails.
If pulling the fuse causes problems, at least you know where the wires are going.
Thanks for the feedback. I like the fuse idea. I was looking at the installation guide and the GM shop manuals I bought and I am going to tinker with it over the next few weeks and see what happens. I also talked to a local aftermarket remote start / alarm dealer and he is willing to remove it for me for a nominal fee....lol. If it looks like more than I want to take on I will run it over to them. I appreciate the responses!
