Default Automatic lowered rear end

Some how the back of end of my vette dropped 1-2 inches??? I can see the difference in how the wheels well sits so close the back tire, as the front wheel well sits higher from the front wheels. My vette is a stock 96. Is there some secret button that i pushed to lower the back end. I think it looks better lowered. I would just like to know what happened?? Did i hit too many bumps in the road?

:iagree: if you look at the old picture you can see the back end sits higher than the front. NOW the back end has dropped substantially :skep:

Same thing happened with my 95 vert 2 years ago.

upon close inspection, we found that the rear sring was broken. It was actually splintered.

to check, put your car on a lift and use a flashlight. I you still dont see anything, use a rag and "wipe" across the spring in each direction to see if it snags on any "splinters".

wear HEAVY gloves while doing this.

the only other thing I can think of, would be that your shocks have bit the dust.

swoosh: I have a spare 39.9n/mm (I think, will have to double check its rate) spring (heavy duty spring in 96, its off an 86 and was considered base spring then). Its in good shape, used it on my car when mine broke, it was off an 86 that was converted to SCCA race car, and was on my car for ~20k miles.

Let me know if interested.

P.S. I also have a rear end lowering bolt kit I will sell with the spring so you can lower it to how you like the look...
