I have an 88 corvette with an l98 and im trying to set my rocker lash. Ive read that after you turn the adjusting nut 3/4 of a turn, the lifter should be plunged and at least backed off the retaining clip. Zero of my lifters will plunge at all weither it be by hand, or spring loaded (if i keep turning the adjusting nut, the valve will start to open and lifter still wont plunge). The car has been sitting for a couple weeks and i know they arent already plunged, because the middle part is up against the retaining clip on all of them. The car was also running just fine before i took it apart. Ive read that some people have taken them out and somehow got the oil out of them to where they would plunge, but ive also read that this is normal and you can go ahead and set the lash anyway. What should i do?
There should be several YouTube videos to review covering sbc valve adjustment.
With the lifter at the bottom of its travel. Spin push rod with your fingers until you feel drag, while tightening rocker nut. Then tighten additional 3/4 turn. I normally will recheck afterwards with engine running.

I know the procedure. This is supposed to preload the lifters and set the lash. However, my lifters wont preload or plunge. They are pumped up with oil and arent bleeding out. I tightened down the adjusting nuts to apply constant pressure to the lifters and it seems a couple have bled out. My question now is: is there a known or faster way of getting the oil out of the lifters?
