Is there a OBD1 handheld scanner available to purchase in 2022?
I know I can link to a laptop, or simply count the codes while shorting 2 of the pins on the plug. I have done that. What I mean is a handheld unit like my nice OBD2 scanner. Handheld and simple to use.
Thanks!
Thanks.
You know, i had looked at those when i was searching for a solution a while back. Assuming you have one, how does it work? I don't see a display. Does it flash the codes? Does it link with some other device? Not a lot of info in the description. Can you tell me more about it?
looking at the amazon page it says it basically works like a glorified paperclip. has the codes read out on the digital dash.

I may as well use a paper clip. I recently got a OBD2 for my other cars. Pretty amazing what it does. i know I can't do that with my 93, but I was hoping to streamline the process. Maybe a older OBD1 with a display, maybe I should look for used on ebay.
In any case, thanks for your suggestion.
If you want just a scanner then you should look for the tech 1 scanners the dealers used. If you're looking for something compared to the Diablo scanners/programmers for odbII cars you need to get a laptop, cable and software. As well as burn chips.
