I bought a '94 roadster in September. I got it up on jackstands last night for the first time. I knew there was a slow drip, but the previous owner said she thought it was the drain plug on the oil pan.
Well, the leak is coming from the front of the engine somewhere up top. Can anyone give me a clue as to what this might be. Is there a particular place that is common for a leak on an LT1? Thanks!
intake manifold gaskets... the RTV at the front and rear blow out at about 80k miles or so...
very common problem. the repair is easy enough... its the 18-24 dry time that sucks. you must let the RTV set up right or it will leak again, very soon, too.
What you are seeing is rather common. :( Check your front main seal and your rear main seal as well as your intake manifold gasket. LT-1's are known to weep/leak from these areas.
Check the crank position sensor. It's located at the bottom of the timing chain cover. It has an O ring seal. It's easy to change if you see any seepage around it. :)

Mine went at 38k

Interesting you mention the 18-24 hour dry time. I only let mine set for a couple of hours (just long enough to get everything back together again) and I haven't had any more leaks since.

 18-24 hour dry time for the RTV  I have never heard that before. I have put plenty of motors back together and I have never had an 18-24 hour dry time for RTV...and none of my motors have ever leaked
You must be using some sloooooooooooowwwwwwwwwww curing RTV

no... thats just what the consensus is on the forum... make sure its set up and dry... or else the likelihood of it blowing out increases... I let mine set 12 hours...
