I just bought the eliminator kit. I would have left my pump on but its making annoying noises and seems to be getting worse. I will tell you what I think of the kit after I install tomorrow or the next day.
This is the first mod I had done to my car-back when I didn't know my ars from my elbow. I started off by removing the belt then attacked the A.I.R.pump. Then I followed all the plumbing and removed it, including the smog pump in front of the passenger side valve cover. I had an electrical connection just hangin' out there from the smog pump that I just kinda tucked out of the way. A year later, no codes have tripped.

Re: AIR PUMP ELIMINATION (TODDZWER)
I never got a code from removing mine but I really don't think there's a gain in performance, at least I didn't notice one. I also did my pulleys at the same time. (BTW my Vette idles fine with no loss of voltage)
It does clean thing up a bit though.
I wondering the same thing. If you removed one that is electric would that cause flaging any lights?? I'm going to do it when the new motor get built and readey to rock and roll. No EGR, A.i.R., cats, blah blah.
I finished installing my kit today. It took a while but thats because I removed all the rubber hoses and the "box" next to the air conditioning compressor. Some of the hoses going into the emissions fittings on the exhaust manifolds were hard to get ahold of in the cramped space on the passengers side. If you show your car at all with the hood up I would say you should do it just for that. My car is a lot quieter and I will be able to drive it more later today or tomorrow and can tell you what I think. It sure looks great!
Not bloody likely!!! Any emissions test first consists of a visual inspection of the OEM emissions equipment - if it is missing, YOU FAIL! Whether or not the car will pass the sniffer test is irrelevant because they don't test it once you fail the visual inspection.
Truth is that this A.I.R. pump is only used for emissions during the first couple of minutes after start up of a cold engine - it injects air into the exhaust manifolds just after the heads to aid in the combustion process, to help reduce emissions before the catalysts have warmed up sufficiently - the rest of the time, it does nothing. This is why the LT1, LT4, LT5, LS1, LS6 all have electric pumps that switch off after this initial 2 to 3 minutes, thus not necessitating rotating this pump all the time, when it is essentially never needed.

Not in my state. They pass a mirror under the car to check for the cat but have never opened the hood on any of my vehicles.
:iagree:
I wouldn't let those $4.80 an hour bums touch my hood anyways..
But when emissions comes abck to CT the shops will probably open the hood, etc etc...I am already dredding the time when the repair shops can tell you you pass or not and make you PAY to have BS fixed if they feel like it..
