Default C5 Rear Calipers on C4

When buying my pads, sales guy said they were a direct swap. For clarity, I do not run an E-brake so that is a non factor. My rear (c4) calipers keep spreading/sprawling, causing poor pad wear/braking.

Car is a complete track **** that does endurance (24hr) events.

I really don't know for 88+ but I suspect it's not a direct bolt on... fronts are easier and make more sense. For the 87 and earlier its not very feasible. Hydraulic handbrake plus parking brake is pretty easy to do BTW. The J55 brakes were direct bolt on for non-J55 88+

When i looked at this, the difference in braking wasn't worth the effort involved for C5 rears. They're almost the same as what you have on the 96, and not much different from what I have on the 88. Better $$ spent on good pads, and the DRM bias spring + my C5 fronts.

Now C6 rears, theres a difference. If you really wanted to upgrade braking, I'd tell you to go that direction.

Again, it's a pure track car so all the handbrake stuff has been removed. We suffer brake failure like men.

Not interested in spending tons of money to get bigger wheels. I'm running track pads (Carbotech XP12 up front and XP10 in the rears). I have the C5 setup up front. The '96 rears are the issue. They aren't as rigid as they should be and end up "spreading" causing the pad to wear near the outer radius.

If I used my car like you do I'd go wilwood probably. The only issue is bias, I'd think if you stuck with the c5 fronts the wilwood rears may be too much brake so you would have to figure out how to balance it until the fronts wear out and you get the 6 piston wilwood fronts
