As I was reinstalling the right brace I couldn’t help but notice how easy it was to put the screws in, because taking them out it wasn’t. I’m not sure but I feel as though there may have been a slight twist or push caused by the way they were installed.
Is there any specific method to tightening the braces? Such as having all 4 wheels on the ground vs having the car on jack stands when they are tightened.
Not to my knowledge no. IMO they're only accessible when you have the car jacked up so that's the way I'd put them back on (unless you are lucky enough to have a lift with the tires/wheels supporting the car).
I think what likely happened is that the threads have Loc-tite on them plus road grime, and they are difficult to remove because of that. To be safe, I'd Loc-tite (blue) them in place when mounting also.
Actually it had nothing to do with any grime & wasn’t any lock tight of any kind so I don’t see the need to add it. The brace was twisted & so the metal hole in the brace was causing the bolts to be really hard to remove. Hope that makes sense. It may have been caused by lifting the vehicle by those braces or maybe it had a hit at one time.
Good suggestion, but there are no salvage yard Corvettes in Montana… if you need truck parts they have them but not sports cars! The good thing is the brace isn’t bent, so won’t need a new one. Now quality motor mounts, that’s another thing!
