What cam would you use with the SuperRam with 1.6 roller rockers and stock converter and gears on an 87 vert?
1. Lingenfelter 219
2.TPIS ZZ9
3. Comp Cams Extreme Energy series cam (not sure what one)
Will be a while on the cam but trying to figure out which way to go.
Also how much if any would it help to have the Accel base or SuperRam runners either ported or extrude honed if any?
LPE Claims a 25hp increase with Ported intake, they charge ~$750 total to do it.
Not sure how much meat they take away compared to others, but I can tell you my manifold (Off of Johns 90) is pretty thin compared to stock.
As for cam. I would suggest the LPE219, I can only imagine someone like Lingenfelter testing 200 different cams to find which performed best, something that Comp Cams doesnt do, and something that TPiS may do, but not with the SuperRam.
My 2 cents
Matt
the 219 is a great choice with the super ram any way you stack it. depending on the head you might not even need 1.6 rockers. the 219 has .525 on a 1.5 which is ideal for your smaller runner heads like the 113 or edelbrock performer. more runner and more cfm that can use the lift like a pro action 180 or afr 190 might see a couple more hp with 1.6's.
i wouldn't consider the zz9 for your app.
comps xtreme line has caught on like wildfire lately, just a year ago they wern't mentioned nearly as often & i thought i'd have something different. now they are becoming as popular as the 219
a custom 224/224 grind on a 110 center with 112-114 sep would be a sweet SR cam, you could make it a 224/230 if you want more exhaust duration.
what would i do if it were me? probably buy the comp, everyone has a 219 and SR. then again i like trying something different to see what happens. if anything the comp might pull a couple hundred more rpms from the couple more deg of duration.
