Hello everyone, I have a pretty straightforward problem with the locks on the car (or so I hope lol).
I do not have a key fob for the vehicle so I would just lock the doors manually with the key, but now the key will spin in the keyhole and it will neither unlock or lock the car. Fortunately the power locks on the inside of the vehicle work but I cannot lock the car and open the door from the outside this way. Has anyone had a problem like this? I have searched around a bit on YouTube and on the forum here but mostly ran across videos talking about the PKE. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
It sounds like the rod that attaches to the key cylinder came off. You would need to pull the door panel to access it. You might be able to look down into the channel with the window rolled down to verify.
Yeah I've removed the door panel before and I could see that there was nothing attached to the door handle and that it was also quite loose. My guess is that it is occurring on both doors as I've only removed the driver side door panel previously. Is there anything in the FSM or a video that shows how the rod would attach to the key cylinder ?
Seems manageable enough, thanks guys. I'll wait for a door lock rod clip coming in the mail cause the driver side door wont open from the inside haha, it was the original reason I took off the door panel.
Today I took a crack at it and struggled pretty hard. After awhile I was able to finally take out the water deflector but couldn't find the direct problem for the key just spinning in the lock cylinder. Took a pic as best as I could and I'll try to see about re aligning the window properly because now it is not coming flush with the door.
