Default Coolant leak

I noticed a bit back that there was some coolant built up in a crevice of the engine, so I cleaned it up and watched for where it might be leaking from. To my knowledge it is a slow leak and only while running but have little idea where it may be coming from. Help?

I believe it may be coming out from the blue sealing because it has kinda popped out from where it is supposed to be

Pooling of coolant

give a look in other places along the intake under the fuel rail, especially Rt. Rear if there the intake is leaking. It looks like you recently cleaned up the Thermostat neck so unless you had an install problem that's not the leak, try to lay your hands on a pressure tester and look hoses and claps.

Check thermostat housing is tight enough and coolant bypass hoses and gasket under your throttle body. They are both located in that area.

I had the same thing a while back on my 86. It was driving me crazy because I couldn’t find it. Turned out to be the hose from the water pump to the throttle body had a crack in it. It is only like a 5 inch long piece of hose but it is molded and hard to get. I replaced the hose , it took about 1/2 hour and no more leaks or coolant smell.

Only time I've ever had coolant sitting in that spot was when one of those paper gaskets for he thermostat housing slipped on me.

I replaced the paper gasket with a reusable aluminum gasket and haven't had an issue since.

Of course, that's just my own experience. There's a few different scenarios for why the coolant is sittig there, but looks ike most of em have been mentioned already.

Is the thermostat housing cracked? Looks like it's wet on top of the housing.

I had a leak on the coolant hose to throttle body in my 85 as well. Common problem and not hard to fix.
