Does anyone know what size the rear upper shock bolt is on the early cars? I'm not sure whether mine broke or rattled off but I've somehow lost one of the bolts on my rear shocks. I can take the bolt off the other one and use that as a size but it'd be nice if I could save myself the trouble.
I haven't put the car in the air yet but trauma seems minimal so I think I should be good to go with a new bolt. The shock surprisingly stayed within the mount and if it broke when I think it did I've driven it quite a bit like that - no ill effects other than some knocking noise over bumps.
The nut is M12x1.75 (12mm thick) it seems so you need a M12x1.75 bolt of something near correct length. A GM# 14105136 would be a correct GM. In some GM SPO that part # is spec'd at M12x1.75x75. I'd think that spec bolt would do and maybe a 'prevailing torque' nut.
*** I'd think you want something with very close to a 45/50 mm shoulder. I see a note for a different application mentioning 28THD.
Unfortunately one of my dogbone nuts walked off somehow....It's been over a year since it I put new bushings in so I struggle to think its just taken that long to come undone but I guess I must have not torqued it enough. Surprisingly seems to have had very little effect on the handling of the car but more things to fix.
