Default question about vibration.

This is for a friends 90 cupe 6spd, he has just swaped the clutch ( i helpt him ), and u-joints on the drive shaft.

Now he is got vibration abow 130km/h.
I dont think its the clutch/FW couse if we disengage the clutch when the vibration accours, at 130km/h we still got vibrations. And if it whas the clutch setup wouldent the vibration be at a specifik RPM instead of speed?
Could it be the drive shaft, or u-joints?

Thanks for your input....

Did you mark the orientation of the driveshaft before you removed it? Remove it and and reinstall 180* to see if it improves, else you may need to have the whole assy balanced at a drivetrain shop.
OR
Are you certain that you torqued all the bolts to specs? I mean, if that is all you did and then the vibes started, well you must have done something to cause it. Sorry to be so blunt and don't mean to offend either.

yepp all is torqued to spec. Do you agree that you can count out the clutch setup due to the fact that the vibration is still present when you disengage the clutch and the engine drop to ide?. If it whas in the clutch area the vibration is, shouldent that follow RPM more then speed?

Thanks :lurk:

one question..

Is the hole drive train balanced togehter, half shaft, drive shaft etc?? Why should you else need to mark the driveshaft when you install it agin.
If the drive shaft should be zero balanced it shoulden matter witch way you install it? Or im i wrong?

The shafts are a zero balance but when a vibration occurs the service manual recommends to pull the driveshaft and rotate 180 and reinstall to see if the vibration goes away. Not sure how to explain this but I belief they do some balancing after everything is assembled from the factory. You might want to give this a shot. :seeya
