A friend with a 91 Z28, 383, miniram, ported AFR 210 heads, etc. just ran 12.0 @ 116 on street tires with the TPIS ZZX cam.

That cam would be just right in a 400. :steering:

Why are you going with a flat tappet and not a retrofit roller? I would think the mini ram will benefit from the add'l RPMs and steeper ramps.

Yeah I would do the Retro fit roller lifters.

also you can go with a bigger camin the 406 and it will act tame due to the bigger cubes.. Once you decide on Heads and what compression ratio I would call Comp Cams or Call Cam Motion and get a custom grind.

I know Cam Motion is familiar with the Miniram and if you told them all the spec they will find a good cam for you. When I called them about my car when I was thinking of swapping out my ZZ9, they basically came back with a Cam with more intake Duration then my ZZ9. I probably should have bought their custom grind, but instead I got a good price on the ZZ409 from a forum member and have decided to try that one instead.

This is really something that needs to be all planned out before you really start building a setup.

It seems that more and more people are asking advice such as this, 1/2 way through an engine buildup. When really it should have been addressed WAY before hand with questions like, what is the car gonna be used for? What are my goals? etc.

Please do not take this as a bash, but building an engine in this manner, really can back you into a corner with what kind of options you can have.

i hope you don't take this post the worng way, but a GOOD running engine has components that compliment one another throughout, this takes a lot of planning and researching what has worked in the past.

That is why you see so many people running SR, 219, AFR combinations. Its a proven good setup.

Sorry for coming off this way, but it just seems that too many people lately are just slapping stuff together and then wondering why its not running like they thought it should.

Hope someone can offer you a good recommondation
