i haven't heard stories about either honestly. however if i were doing it i'd just go to your local driveline & rear end shop & have them rebuild what you have with whatever ring and pinion. if your stuck on ecklers or tpis, go with tpis. there's my .02
i wouldn't i've heard nothing but bad things on the current richmond gears. toms gear makes a 3:73 and 4:11 for our cars under $300 for the ring and pinion.
I've installed many on people's cars and had no problems...I've used 3.73 from tpis in my own 85 for quite a while and race after race after race...they work fine!.....383 with 200 shot on slicks...I would say they work..

Thanks for all the help. So far the TPIS is looking the best just because of all the stuff it comes with. I will check out that Tom's gear. Di they include all the seals and stuff with them?
I believe you can get the richmonds from summit or jegs for $3??.00 I got my diff. rebuilt by Zip, ( a supporting vender of this forum) for $759.00. This included new richmond gears, new dana clutch packs, and new timkin bearings. Whoever you get, I would let them supply the parts. That way if anything goes wrong, ie. a whine in the rear end, etc. they cant blame it on the parts. Good luck.
