The only reason BUck is having the problem is because he Auto Xs and does track events. He is pulling enough lateral Gs that the oil is moving away from the oil pick up in the pan. For most people this is not a problem but if you drive hard at the cars limit you can run into this
I know of plenty of LT-1 f-bodies that this has happened to, including mine, on the road course. At the road course in Memphis I know of 4 different cars that have spun rod bearings coming out of turn 2 and 3. The pans are different than the Vette pan but not that much in design.
I have the Canton RR pan and Accusump. On the C4, one piece rear main seal pan it holds 6 quarts. They call it a 7 qt. system because you add one more for the filter. Between those two components, the lines and the cooler, I've got ~ 11 1/2 quarts of Mobil 1 in my veins. ;)
