im looking at 92 vettes with the lt1 and 6-speed. but i like to mod my cars and would like to get it to alittle over 400 or just under 400 hp and then a possible supercharger/intercooler added but thats way down the road when i can afford forged internals.
i plan on headers and exhaust but what brands to get.
also i plan on getting the heads ported/polished and a 3-way valve job along with springs-anything else.
i am probably going to run 1.6 rockers
and do a lt4 hotcam
what else can i do for more hp gains like fly wheelect
also this is my first vette will the body/frame hold lots of horsepower or are frame connecters needed for when i run boost.
the other cars i had were f-bodies so i needed them or risked twisting the body.
its going to a be weekend drag car about 2 times a month also.

I've read nothing but positive feedback about the Hookers. If there are any negatives, I haven't seen it yet. With Hookers and a catback, I'd say that's good for 35+ hp.
everyone likes the hooker super comps. they're listed as L98 headers (up to '91's) but fit the same on the LT1's. they come with emission tubes or not and coated or not.
everyone seems to have different opinions on the cat-back exhausts, but most will agree that corsas are the quiestest and produce the least resonance in the hatch when cruzing.
there should be some reviews of the popular cat-backs in the review section, top nav bar.
most cat-backs will require modification to hook to long tube headers, an exhaust shop can do it real quick for cheap. you may also want to consider some high flow cats, they fit with the 6-speed transmission.
how does a vette sound with out cats is it a real big diffrence does not having a cat make it sound like poopie.
i know running my bird with a cat it had a gurggle when slowing down after a fast accelerate. and it was noisy as hell
The only "catless" Vette I've heard was a true dual '90 roadster with stock exhaust manifolds and Flowmaster mufflers. It was louder than mine and I have headers with a cat and Dynomax mufflers. I doub't it's loud enough running through mufflers to worry about getting pulled over as long as you aren't WOT near the coppers.
I have TPIS longtube headers going into a Corsa system with no cats on my LT4, it's an awesome sound! I can make people lose hearing in they're behind the car and I nail it. But in th ecar is still very manageable...I can listen to the radio, talk to someone else, and even on my cell phone as long as I'm not blazing at 100% throttle.
Sounds like you already know what to do, C4's do have some chassis flex so you might need something like a camber brace. Its not going to be a problem until you do all these other things and THEN stick the SC on there. It can handle the torque up until that point. Then you might start twisting halfshafts. :D
If i were you and this car wasnt going to be a driver, id run true duals with Hooker headers and just straight pipes. If you want a muffler, it depends on what sound you want. Many to choose from: Flowmaster, Power Effects, Corsa, B&B, Borla. I personally like the PE and B&B better. Corsa is great for a car that you want to drive on the street, it only sounds mean when you step on it->no resonance issues really.
ive done engine mods just on older chevy 350's and since this is going to be my first vette i didn't know about the chassi flex.
id like to keep out of the cops mind as much as possible(i know its a vette) so noisy when i get on its ok but i dont want to run just straight pipes as that might attract some unwanted attention
its pretty much going to be an everyday driver but i do ride a motorcycle so that thing takes up alot of time :yesnod: in the summer also. but they will both get to go out and pick up chicks so its all good :jester
i dont think chassis flex will be much of an issue...these cars have full frames not subframes like your f-body. the half shafts (the small driveshafts that connect the diff to the wheels) might become an issue with the supercharger, so give dennys driveshafts a call and get some stronger ones. if you really want a stiff chassis though, you could get a camber brace and a 6 pt roll bar inside...i think that would handle just about anything.
