yes there is. I do it all the time when I pull one in the junkyard. I just use my impact battery. If I understand it correctly the 3 wire headlight motors have 2 motor leads and one wire that sends a signal when the light is all the way up or down. The 3 wire headlights use an isolation relay and don't use a ripple current relay like the 2 wire lights. Anyway I put 12 vdc to the green and white wires and it should move. Then switch polarity to move the other way. This doesn't test the gray signal wire but it will at least tell you if it's binding and if the motors still in fact work. Also I never remember the colors in the junkyard. I just poke and hope until it moves. It won't hurt anything if you hook it up wrong while testing.
Be warned that if you replace the headlight motors you can use the lower cost 2 wire motors but it's a lot of wiring changes that need to be made to get them to work properly. My 84 was "converted" to 2 wire headlight motors by the previous owner. Whoever did the work did it very wrong. I ended up removing all the cobbled together relays and wiring they had and installed a new headlight harness and a small relay box with a toggle switch on the dash to run the up and down function. This eliminates 99% of the issues these cars have or could ever have with headlight motors.
