Default Proportioning Brakes Forward

Now that my car is a Kart is much lighter, and lot of weight came out of the back. The back locks up before the front...which is BAD on an autocross coarse. I know there are bias springs to push the bias reward, is there a way to push the proportion forward?

I have dual caliper strange disks on my drag car. I put an adjustable proportioning valve in the rear brake line before it splits to keep the rears from locking up.

That's interesting; when I was "done", my kart would lock the front wheels way before the rears. I changed the bias spring to increase pressure to the rear. It's a lot better, but will still lock the fronts first.

Have you obtained the Pro Valve yet? I have a new in the box Mopar Pro valve for $13.00 plus shipping.

I have 325 wide tires on all 4 corners, meaning the front has a lot of meat and grip. I think if I was running 255 in the front I wouldn't have this problem and the fronts would lock up first.

Yes, I bought one. The rear line coming off the master cylinder is 1/4" instead of the 3/16" that everything else is, so I'm waiting for a 1/4" flare tool to arrive from Amazon.

Okay, I'm on the struggle bus with this. The rear line is actually 6mm and getting a double flare on this line is driving me nuts! All of the tools are for 1/4" and 6mm is too small for the dies on the decent tools I've bought and the cheap rental tool from the parts store are trash! Does anyone have any suggestions on how to work with this factory 6mm brake line?

From what I can see, this tool will not do 6mm line with a double flare end, it will do iso bubble flares, but not double flare. Can I create a bubble flare first and then smash it with a 45 degree into a double flare?

I would think so. That is the set I used to flare my front and rear lines on my '89 Kart when I removed the ABS and simplified the routing of ALL the brake lines.

If you set up with a 6mm bubble or iso flare. The come back with the double flare tool you should end up with a 6mm double flare. Make sure you have the correct nut on pipe

I should have listened to your advice. I tried a $100 kit from Amazon that had good reviews...but it was trash on the OEM brake lines. Broke down and ordered this $350 kit and it worked perfectly. Brakes are all bred and initial drive was good. I need to find a blank road to do some hard stops to lock up the wheels now so I can properly proportion the brakes. Thanks for all the help everyone!

Cool! I struggled with that purchase too. I almost went the cheap route but had already done that so I went all the way, the other way. Anyway...you'll have that kit forever now and it makes all kinds of line tasks a breeze. (EFI lines for example)

Keep posting about the kart.

Many dealers will have that MasterCool or a similar from their 'special tool' supplier. If you've a relationship with a dealer or a technician you can likely avoid the expense. There are also quite likely some 'rental tool' specialty vendors that maybe even rent the package.

I don't know that a J-45405 is the current package for GM but it was at one time.

Thanks to the help of this forum, I was able to get those rear brakes working exactly how I wanted them and managed to post the fastest time of any of the almost 50 cars at autocross this weekend. I'm so pumped! Thanks for the help guys. Here's poor video (thanks to me not wiping off the camera lens) of the runs.
