86 does not use CCM that's 90-96. It uses a vats module. Vats disable is commonly done by soldering in resistor equal to key values in key reader circuit.
It could be done with a new prom and some rewiring bypassing starter enable relay.
VATS is in the CCM, why not just do the VATS bypass?

^These guys are right. No CCM in '86.
What does the security indicator on the dash do, when it won't start, with the key in the "RUN"/on position?

And as there is no CCM, there is no connection between VATS and the security indicator. In ‘86-‘89, the security indicator is driven by the UTDS Module and only indicates the status of the Theft Deterrent System.
Are you saying that in an '86 car, the security light doesn't blink when you get in the car but don't insert the key?
No, what I’m saying is that SECURITY indicator is only connected to the UTDS on ‘86-‘89. It lights to indicate the status of the Theft Deterrent System. Blinking indicates that a door is opened and the Theft Deterrent System is not armed. Once armed SECURITY indicator lights solid. No connection to VATS until 1990 and the CCM. The UTDS and VATS module’s functions were incorporated into the CCM. As the CCM drives the SECURITY indicator, it could be used to indicate more than just the status of the alarm and could also indicate the status of VATS.
Like the ‘86-‘89, but with no VATS. The difference is on the ‘84-‘85, the UTDS outputs not only to the horn, but to the starter relay. The SECURITY indicator works the same. When the alarm is active on 84-‘85, the horn beeps on and off 50 times a minute and the starter is disabled so the car won’t crank. On ‘86-‘89, when the alarm is active, the horn beeps on and off 50 times a minute, but if VATS is happy the car will start and you can drive down the road with the horn beeping on and off.
