hi, i'm working on my 92 c4 installing a new convertible top or i should say trying to install a new top and i have a issue with it and need some help. my problem is i don't know how the back of the top, the piece between the window and and the bottom rail that snaps into the hard cover, is secured. my old top was a wreck when i bought the car so i don't have anything to look at to see how it was secured.
looking at it, it seems that it may have been held in by the piece of weather striping that is attached to the back rail but that seems like it would be a challenge to get the top and the rubber stuffed into the channel. another thought was that the quarter channel weather striping, along with the cable would be enough to hold the back down but that seems like a reach.
i know that it may be difficult to visualize exactly what i'm talking about but i'm hoping someone else out there has had the same issues and will understand my problem.
when i started this project i thought the internet, or youtube would have plenty of pictures and video on the subject but i was not able to find any that addressed it. there is a dvd available for $30.00 but i don't own a dvd player anymore!
any info or links will be much appreciated.

The top is glued to the frame under the weather strip rail. I used Weldwood landau headliner glue. When I bought my 92 the PO left off some of the side strips and used some weak glue. Just pull it real tight, glue it and then attach the weather strip rails.

so if i'm understanding you correctly, there is nothing holding the top onto the last rail that has the 2 tabs that snap into the body cover. its held in place through a combination of the side rubber channels and tension from the cable. is that correct?

I don't think you need to pull the pins that attach the top to the decklid. I should have pulled the material tighter, but the PO had already glued it. I should also trim some more of the material that is sticking out. Lots of trimming to do once you get it glued in.
