Default Koni shocks

I'm planning to install Koni's all around.

I want red Koni's because I heard that red are the stiffest and I would like them to be adjustable.

Does anybody know exactly what model of Koni shocks do I need.

I have RPO code FE1 - base suspension.

I could be wrong but I thought the yellows where the stiffest. I was checking them out before I got my HALs.

Corvette 90-96
front: 8241-1097Sport
rear: 8241-1098Sport

This is what i found on Koni site.
But I noticed that they don't produce front shocks for 88-89. vette.
What is the differnce between 88-89 and 90-96?
I ask this because man who sells Koni's in Zagreb is not sure
that 8241-1097Sport will fit my car.

One more question.

If I put on this Koni's, Can I still lower my car and how much?

Anybody have Koni's/lowered combo?

Yes you can still lower your car, because it hasn't anything to do with the shocks. BUT, I don't know what effect it will have since I am not running that combination. I plan to purchase them from Summit Racing shortly. Before my first AutoX this season. :yesnod:

I have Koni yellows all the way around my '89 coupe so I'm sure you can find a way to make them work on your car. If you'd like I can look for part numbers for the Koni's I'm using. They were installed by the previous owner of the car, so I'm not sure if any modifications were required.

I have the Konis in my car too. Koni makes 2 kinds: regular (red) and Sport (yellow). Only Sports available to 90-96. Others posted the part numbers.

Regards,

Toni

Sliding,

the Yellow Koni's are the one you are looking for. Have the lowered combo with Yellow Koni's (adjustable) and handling is much better !
The red ones are softer.

Greetings to Croatia,
Ray

the yellows are the sports which are stiffer than the reds, fully adjustable & shox.com had the cheapest pricing i found. they are very easy to get business pricing as well. if you have a tax id # your in like flint.

I purchased the Yellow Konis from Summit as well. Cheapest I could find, especially if you secure the 10% discount they offer occasionally.

Does Koni make the yellow double adjustable shock for Corvettes? Haven't ever heard anyone mention them here. They are usually yellow too, but more expensive than the regular sports. The have both rebound and compression damping adjustments.

Ken , I dont beleive they sell them as a regular part number, but they are available upon request. This is per their US tech support line I asked when gettin ready to purchase my single adjustable sports. They modify them , so I guess they would be yellow as well, so they are also adjustable for rebound damping...... hope that helps. :seeya

Thanks Shriker. The valving may be very worked out and specific for the corvette. But, on alot of cars, the DA koni's are the way to go if you want a car that both rides nice and handles like a dream. Thought it would be nice on a corvette too. Especially if you are running a non-standard spring rate. The DAs are about $225 ea for Fox body mustangs.
