Good day… 1993 LT1 auto. Have a very intermittent Code 65 with a Service ASR light. Will be off for weeks then on but always clears after 3 starts. I’ve checked the brake master cylinder and it’s full. Did the adjustment on the asr motor and cables. No visible frayed wires or connections. Have not opened the harness under the rocker panels.
Question. Because this is intermittent, could I run a jumper from the ASR motor connector direct to the EBTCM connector pins 33/34 and 54/55. See attached from FSM.
Thanks
John
Thanks for the info.. I don’t thinks it’s the ASR motor, reason being I’ve had the asr close down the throttle when the rear tires slip. Checked this on some damp grass at an off road event. When the service asr light comes on it’s always when I’m driving the Vette in normal traffic, no tire slip or spin.it’s very intermittent like I said. I’m going to try checking for bad or loose connections and any damaged wires. If I do find the cause I’ll follow up here.tThe asr is controlled by wheel sensors that send info to the EBTCM.
I will recheck the asr motor.
Thanks
Just an update, found some damage to the wire wrap behind the battery, maybe a critter got in there ? Need to dig a little deeper.
Also today I checked the voltage at the motor connector, battery voltage was 12.25, measured a drop to 10.91 at the connector but it’s on the negative tan wire. Sounds like I have a short to ground. Positive Gray wire shows .02 volts also at connector. *** backwards?
Follow up on DTC 65, found the problem. After following the service manual, found no shorts in any of the circuits. Last step said it might be a bad EBTCM. Found a low mileage (44k) unit from a 94, replaced and the service asr light is off and DTC 65 code is gone. Very easy to replace!
