Hello everyone.
I Installed a BBK 52mm throttle body yesterday on my 96 Corvette. I noticed that after the install, the gas pedal sticks a bit in the closed position while the engine is running.
I emailed BBK and this was their response:
------------------------------------------ Hello, if it only sticks in the on position this usually indicates a vacuum lock or "seal" you could call it. Double check all vacuum lines and any gaskets to ensure no leaks are in them or near them. If this continues please email warranty@bbkperformance.com and we can get you taken care of as long as you qualify.
Team, I have installed one of your throttle bodies (Part # 1543) on my 96 Corvette. The throttle is sticking in the closed position while the engine is running. Oddly, it does not do this when the engine is off. Is there anything I can do to eliminate the throttle from sticking?
Did you set minimum idle and TPS because when you set minimum idle it nudges the plates just a little, and since it's new I'm going to take it the throttle Body is clean.
The instructions stated TPS setting was not needed on 92 and later vehicles.
yes, the TB is brand new and clean.
Ok but what about the minimum idle. Jump A to B Turn Key (don't start) disconnect IAC try to start odds are it won't touch pedal will idle Very Low bring up Idle using the set screw by throttle connection. In drive bring the idle up to around 500rpm

My car is a manual, the idle is exactly where it was before, there is no surging, and there are only two vacuum lines on the passenger side, which are connected. They do look dry rotted, though.😐
The fact that the blades don't stick when the engine is off lends some credibility to BBK's comments. However, It feels like vacuum behind the blades wants to keep them closed though.
The IAC is what controls what the cars electronics want. So if you're plates are totally backed off the car would probably run with the IAC corrections. Give the post a little time there are a lot of very technical people on this Forum see if others agree or not
