is anyone running hooker 2151s with straight plug heads? does it work or is it a plug melting mess. looking at porting brodix IKs, straight plug only though.
also could port the AFR enforcers but i'd like to make the most flow with the smallest intake runner for street use per john lingenfelter's SBC book
That sounds promising. I was thinking I'd get the uncoated ones, apply hammer where needed, get bungs welded into the collectors and then send to get coated.
At the same time, I could just get afr 195 eliminators and save myself a lot of trouble. That's what it always comes down to, time or money
I had a set of 2151's on factory 624 heads for a bit and had to run a shorty plug on #6. A normal size plug had the boot on the tube. At the same time I was working on another car that used a set of straight plug AFR heads. I noticed that AFR doesn't leave the plug centered in the chamber like a factory head. They actually move it about 3/16" in the wrong direction for straight plug header clearance. That made me realize that 2151 hookers with straight plug AFR heads would not be a very good combination. Not sure about other heads just an observation with AFR's
So what makes this very confusing is that Hooker lists these as * NOT INTENDED FOR ANGLE PLUGS HEADS " But what they really mean is "not intended for factory angle plug heads " In other words the 113 D port factory Heads don't line up with the header flanges. Its the port shape thats the problem. It has nothing to do with the Spark Plugs them selves. I have straight Plug AFR 195s but I would much prefer angle plug 195s.
