Can the knock sensor be fooled by other noises than detonation? For example would it respond to knocking from the dual mass fly wheel an ZF6 speed?
The knock sensor is a piezoelectric device that is tuned to detect certain frequencies. It is selected to be at a frequency that is normally associated with spark knock. However, there can be cases where other "noise" can be generated that will fool the knock sensor into thinking it is knock.
I don't think anyone can give you a definite answer on your question.
Since spark knock usually happens under heavy engine load, I would think if the knock sensor detects "knock" when the engine is not under load, then that knock would be suspect as being false.
